what to expect at your first reflexology appointment

If you’re new to reflexology, it’s normal to wonder what your first appointment will be like. At Reflexology Plus, we make it as simple and stress-free as possible—whether you’re a first-timer or coming back after a break.

Here’s a step-by-step guide so you know exactly what to expect.

Booking Your Session

You can book online, by phone, or walk in if availability allows. Most clients choose 30- to 60-minute sessions, but longer options are available. When booking, you'll choose your preferred service, pressure, and time length.

Check-In and Welcome

You can check-in online, the same way you booked the appointment, or you can simply check in at the front desk in the lobby when you arrive.

We’ll confirm your appointment, ask a few brief questions about your goals or any sensitivities, and guide you to the Lounge or Room depending on the service.

The Environment

You’ll be shown to a comfortable recliner in our Lounge (for foot reflexology) or a massage table in one of our private rooms (if you're combining services). Lights are low, music is gentle. If you're in the Lounge, you’ll remain fully clothed, with your shoes and socks removed. If you're in a private massage room, clothing is optional.

During the Session

Your practitioner will begin by gently warming up your feet. Then, using thumb and finger pressure, they’ll apply targeted work to specific reflex zones. You might feel:

  • Deep pressure or tenderness in certain areas
  • A sense of release or warmth
  • Relaxation deep enough to fall asleep

It’s completely normal to feel emotional, sleepy, or even energized as the body resets.

After the Session

You’ll be encouraged to drink water, take your time getting up, and ask any questions. Many clients feel light, clear-headed, or deeply relaxed. Some describe it as "floating."

Common Questions

  • Should I talk during the session? Up to you. Most clients drift into silence.
  • Will it hurt? It shouldn’t. Some spots may feel tender, but should never feel painful.
  • Do I need to tip? It’s appreciated but not required.

Final Thoughts

Your first reflexology session is about tuning in—not doing anything "right." Whether you're seeking stress relief, better sleep, or just a peaceful moment, you’ll leave feeling better than when you walked in.

We’re here to make sure of it.
